Taking good care of your air plants requires more than just air,
but not too much more...

What exactly is an air plant?
Air plants are unique plants that do not require soil to grow. They come in a variety of unique shapes and are really easy to take care of. They make stellar centerpieces, spruce up boring windowsills, are great conversation starters, and make exceptional gifts.

Do I need to water my air plant?
Yep! Even though they aren’t rooted in soil they do need water. Here in Portland with high humidity, we recommend submerging your plants in water for 20-30 minutes once a week (drier climates will require more frequent watering). You’ll notice leaf tips turning brown and wrinkling if they aren’t getting enough water. A light misting can be helpful if they are dehydrated.

A nice long 2-3 hour soak about once a month will make your plants extra happy. After watering place your plants in a spot where they will dry in less than 4 hours.

Can you mount air plants on anything?

Almost, we’ve seen them on branches and shells, in glass, hanging from string, and so much more. Beware though; copper is air plant Kryptonite so steer clear of that one material. Air plants, not surprisingly, enjoy moving air so completely enclosed containers are not your best choice for long term homes.

Do they like direct or indirect sunlight?

They crave bright yet indirect filtered light.

Where can I purchase AirRegular displays?

While we don’t have a storefront, our blog is the best place to find out where our next showing is. Feel free to e-mail if you want to request a viewing outside of those times.
